Local perineural anesthesia video series is authored by Professor Gary M. Baxter, VMD, MS, DACVS. This video is a must for the equine veterinarian to learn how to perform diagnostic nerve blocks. The general approach to local anesthesia in the horse is described and demonstrations of every perineural block of the forelimb and hind limb are included. These include the palmar digital block, basi-sesamoid block, pastern ring block, low palmar or 4-point block, high palmar block, lateral palmar block (medial and lateral approaches), ulnar block, the median and medial cutaneous antebrachial block, low 6-point block in the hind limb, high plantar or subtarsal block, the deep branch of the lateral plantar nerve block, and the tibial and peroneal nerve blocks.
