Hilton Head Island is located just off the coast of South Carolina, approximately 45 minutes from Savannah Georgia. The Island is 12 miles long and 5 miles wide and is widely acclaimed as one of the great sports and recreational destinations. The Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort (formerly the Hilton Oceanfront Resort) is located oceanside next to 12 miles of sandy beaches. Inland you will find creeks, lagoons and forests and an abundance of wildlife. October is a wonderful time to be in the low country of South Carolina. Driving Direction from North or South
Take I-95 to Exit #8. Take Hwy 278 East for 25 miles towards Hilton Head Island. After crossing the Island bridge, continue on Business 278 to Palmetto Dunes, which is located on the left hand side 8 miles from the Island bridge. Make a left hand turn at traffic light into Palmetto Dunes, and after one mile you will arrive at a guard gate. State that you are a guest of the Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort (formerly the Hilton Oceanfront Resort) and obtain a pass and continue. The Resort is located on the left side. No motorcycles permitted. There is also a regional airport, Hilton Head Island Airport – HXD serviced by several airlines.
