This seminar will focus on techniques in emergency medicine:  how i actually manage the patient!

Fluid Therapy

  • Shock: What’s causing it? How do I treat it? Hypovolemic, hemorrhagic, cardiogenic, and distributive.
  • IV fluids choices: Does the type of fluid really matter?
  • Transfusion basics: What to do if you don’t have a blood bank. Including blood collection, components, typing, crossmatching, and administration.

Emergencies

  • Approach to the dyspneic cat
  • Dyspneic dogs, learning to distinguish the common problems with video cases
  • The Acute abdomen, Cases of common abdominal emergencies
  • Sedation and anesthesia for the critical emergency patient

Monitoring

  • Realistic monitoring of the emergency patient
  • Post-operative monitoring of the Critically Ill Patient
  • Common Arrhythmias in the ER

Critical Care

  • Pain Management in the Critically Ill
  • Recognizing sepsis while there’s still time to treat it.
  • Coagulopathies- How to Recognize and Treat them in your hospital

  • What is not included:

Air transportation; transfers to and from the ship in Ft. Lauderdale; items of a personal nature, such as shore excursions, specialty restaurant fees, some beverages, photographs, alcohol, medical services, seminar registration.

Bus transfers to and from the ship (connecting to and from FLL International Airport) can also be purchased from Celebrity- just ask the IVS office.

Payment Schedule:$250 DEPOSIT PER PERSON AT TIME OF BOOKING. FINAL PAYMENT IS ON 

CANCELLATION POLICY:

74-57 days prior to sailing- you will lose your deposit of $250.00 per person
56-29 days prior to sailing – you will lose 50% of cruise fare
28-15 days prior to sailing – you will lose 75% of cruise fare
14- 0 days prior to sailing- there is no refund.
