Dr. Tamara Grubb graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science in 1985 and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1989. Following graduation, she joined a mixed animal practice in the state of Oregon and then went on to do a Fellowship in large animal medicine and surgery at Oregon State University. While at the university, she discovered her interest in anesthesia and enrolled in an anesthesia residency program at the University of Illinois.

In 1995, Dr. Grubb joined the anesthesia faculty at The Ohio State University and in 1996 Dr. Grubb passed the anesthesia certifying exam and became a Diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Anesthesiologists. Also in that year, she completed her master’s degree in cardiovascular physiology with a master’s thesis focused on the effects of anesthesia on the utilization of calcium in the equine heart.

In 2000, Dr. Grubb returned to the faculty at Oregon State University where she was an assistant professor in anesthesia. While at Oregon State, Dr. Grubb earned the Carl J. Norden Distinguished Teaching Award.

In 2002, Dr. Grubb joined the pain management team at Pfizer Animal Health where she spent her time educating practitioners, technicians and students on a variety of anesthesia and pain management topics. In April 2008, Dr. Grubb returned to academia and is currently an associate professor of anesthesia and pain management at Washington State University. Dr. Grubb is also an associate veterinarian at Riverview Animal Clinic in Clarkston, Washington and is a certified veterinary acupuncturist.
