Kenny Simpson did his veterinary training at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, (BVM&S, MRCVS, 1984) and then headed south topursue a PhD in gastrointestinal and pancreatic diseases at theUniversity of Leicester, England, (PhD, 1988). He hopped the pond topursue an internship at the University of Pennsylvania, (1989) and a residency in Small Animal Medicine Residency at Ohio State University (1991), then hopped back again as a lecturer at the Royal Veterinary College. He fled the hostile climes of Londiniumin 1995 to join the faculty at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, which is really quite close toCanada.

He is Diplomate/Invited Specialist, European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine – Companion Animals, (1994) and a Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine – InternalMedicine(1992) and is currently chief of the section of Small AnimalInternal Medicine. His research interests are located squarely belowthe diaphragm and he has published widely on gastric, intestinal and pancreatic diseases in dogs and cats. He is a recipient of the National Phi Zeta and Pfizer awards for research, and a past-president of the comparative gastroenterology society.
